Tús is a national labour market activation initiative designed to provide short-term work opportunities for those who are unemployed and on the Live Register.
All the work carried out by participants in the Tús programme will support community and voluntary bodies providing a broad range of services of benefit to communities. The Department of Social Protection is responsible for the operation of Tús, and Monaghan Integrated Development is the implementing body for the county.
There is no application process for unemployed people who are eligible for this scheme. Potential participants will be selected at random and contacted by the social welfare office and offered the opportunity to participate in the scheme.
Participants will work for 19½ hours a week and the placement lasts for 12 months.
County Monaghan has been allocated 100 places.
